  1. Windows XP, don’t you love it….

    January 9, 2012 by Timo

Had to do some x-browser testing on Windows XP and decided to do the updates it was yelling about for a while. Bad idea…

  2. Convert pt to px

    November 19, 2011 by Timo

As a web developer I sometimes get font sizes in points instead of pixels (graphic designers vs developers). Fortunately I found this useful table that’s pretty accurate at converting this:

    Points Pixels Ems Percent
    6pt 8px 0.5em 50%
    7pt 9px 0.55em 55%
    7.5pt 10px 0.625em 62.5%
    8pt 11px 0.7em 70%
    9pt 12px 0.75em 75%
    10pt 13px 0.8em 80%
    10.5pt 14px 0.875em 87.5%
    11pt 15px 0.95em 95%
    12pt 16px 1em 100%
    13pt 17px 1.05em 105%
    13.5pt 18px 1.125em 112.5%
    14pt 19px 1.2em 120%
    14.5pt 20px 1.25em 125%
    15pt 21px 1.3em 130%
    16pt 22px 1.4em 140%
    17pt 23px 1.45em 145%
    18pt 24px 1.5em 150%
    20pt 26px 1.6em 160%
    22pt 29px 1.8em 180%
    24pt 32px 2em 200%
    26pt 35px 2.2em 220%
    27pt 36px 2.25em 225%
    28pt 37px 2.3em 230%
    29pt 38px 2.35em 235%
    30pt 40px 2.45em 245%
    32pt 42px 2.55em 255%
    34pt 45px 2.75em 275%
    36pt 48px 3em 300%

    Thanks Reed Design!

  3. 38 Lines of Code == Serie of Abstract Visuals

    June 7, 2011 by Timo

Processing is my new obsession! It’s an open source programming language used by lots of visual artists and lazy programmers. It’s an awesome tool that allows you to creates cool visuals with only a tiny bits of code.

I wrote some code that creates a serie of 5 abstract visuals. Why 5? I don’t know, change one character and it could be just 1, or 50! Since all of the visuals are created randomly it’s nearly impossible to create a duplicate so feel free to download the source code after the jump and create your own series of visuals!

All of these visuals are created with only 38 lines of super basic code

    Download ZIP here

    Source code after the jump

  5. First boat ride of the season

    March 28, 2011 by Timo

I was such a nice day yesterday! Too nice to stay inside, a good excuse for a nice boat ride on the canals in Amsterdam (first of many for the coming months!).

Since it’s still early in the season it wasn’t too crowded with tourist boats and ‘waterfietsen‘ which was nice.

  6. Progress on Amsterdam Fixed

    March 27, 2011 by Timo

Amsterdam Fixed is a new project that is all about the fixed gear community in Amsterdam. We are working on it to make it all work as smoothly as possible from a technical and design perspective.

The Grand Opening will be in the beginning of the summer. You can’t miss it!! Make sure you fill out your email address on amsterdamfixed.nl and you’ll receive an email when the time is right.

I’ll keep posting updates about the project so make sure you check in frequently or subscribe to the RSS feed.
